A log wall package consists of logs, supplies and labour to construct a main/ground floor level and this can also include a second story (loft), available in both our stockade style and the traditional style log wall. Below, we have listed both log wall styles; breaking them out by main/ground floor level and second story (loft). In addition to each style of log wall, we have included building materials, supplies & materials and labour for the main/ground floor level; and information about walls, the floor and roof for the second story/(loft).

Stockade Style

Main/Ground Floor

Building Materials

• Eight (8ft) foot vertical wall logs (milled (flattened) on 2 sides to accept plywood splines and to achieve a greater wall thickness). Top end of wall logs are squared to allow for proper fit of the top plate and trim.
• Top and bottom wall plates. (true 2x6, datoed to accept plywood splines to lock wall logs to plates)
• Plywood splines (that go between every wall log).

Supplies & Materials

• Energy seal (a form of caulking to seal the gap between the log).
• Logs are spayed with a fungicide and UV inhibitor.
• Set of engineered approved plans. (needed in log home construction)

Labour (Craftsmanship)

• Door and window openings are all pre-manufactured for custom fit.
• All electrical holes will be drilled and mortised (recessed opening) to allow for electrical wiring and outlet boxes.
• Log package will be assembled at your building site with supervision from one of our staff.

Second Story (Loft)

Walls

• Walls of the second story consist of wall logs that are 12ft high; (notched for floor at 10 ft with main beam under that at 9ft, resulting in a nine (9ft) foot ceiling.

Floor

• The floor consists of log joists with supporting main beams and posts.

Roof

• Roof beams usually consist of a ridge pole and single purling (on each side).

Traditional Style

Main/Ground Floor

Building Materials

• Walls average 10 ft in height and 12 to 14 inches in thickness.

Supplies & Materials

• Logs are sprayed with a fungicide and UV inhibitor.
• Set of engineered approved plans. (needed in log home construction)
• Fasteners such as leg bolts.
• Insulation (sheep wool recommended).

Labour (Craftsmanship)

• All electrical holes will be drilled and mortised (recessed opening) to allow for electrical wiring and outlet boxes.
• Door and window openings are pre-manufactured to allow for settling. (They are flared back and keywayed for easy installation.)
• Logs are hand peeled and sanded to remove the bark. When constructing the walls, logs are selectively chosen by our builders for best fit.
• Log package will be assembled at your building site with supervision from one of our staff.

Second Story (Loft)

Floor

• The floor consists of log joists with supporting main beams and posts. Where desired slots are cut into floor beams to except decking.

Roof

• Roof beams usually consist of a ridge pole and single purling (on each side).
